ABOUT THE CONGO FAITH HEALERS
The Congo Faith Healers are like nothing you have heard or experienced before. Combining gravel throated vocals with down and dirty grooves they are currently blazing a trail across the land with their intense and utterly compelling live shows.
Falling somewhere between Tom Waits, Led Zepplin and something straight out of a David Lynch movie CFH are that truly unique beast: a band that blend their collective influences to create something totally fresh and exhilarating. With a drummer hailing from the Congo, double bass from Croatia acoustic guitarist from the streets of Paris and a singer/ songwriter who is a wandering poet from some undisclosed continent, the band are as culturally diverse as the music they make.
After their amazing performance supporting KT Tunstall for the Radio One sponsored "Little Noise" gig at The Union Chapel, gigs are coming in thick and fast including a sold out show with Razorlight, Finley Quaye and Supergrass at The Forum.
Mark Lamarr invited them as special guests on his BBC Radio2 Show- being interviewed and playing five of there own songs live, building an incredible pedigree in a short time the future is positively blinding. After they floored audiences in Dubai at a Jack Daniels sponsored event the band have were asked to return for an extended tour of the Middle East and South Africa. They also appeared on the main stage at the Gibson Centenary Shows on the Embankment and various festivals this summer.
Work is currently underway on securing a record deal after them having been taken on board by legendary producer Chris Kimsey, who has an amazing CV, having recorded many albums for the Rolling Stones, The Gypsy Kings...the list is endless! Their debut album slated for later this year. The limited edition live CD and DVD filmed and recorded at Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand) private party at Wilton’s Music Hall in East London is ALREADY SOLD OUT. Word is being spread from packed show to packed show that the CFH are an unstoppable musical force... welcome on board!
ABOUT JOSIE FIELD
Josie Field’s debut album, ‘Mercury’, released in South Africa in 2006 and sold over7 000 units in her home territory alone - an astounding achievement for the debut album by a previously unknown artist.. The first single off ‘Mercury’ was ‘Every Now And Then’, which went to number 1 on 5 FM’s chart and was also at number 1 on listener-voted Hi5 @ 5 for 7 weeks. The second single, ‘10 Years’ went to number 2 on 5FM and stayed on the number 1 spot on the Hi 5 @ 5 for 3 weeks. Combined, these 2 singles, have achieved over 120 000 units in compilation sales and downloads. Not willing to rest on her laurels following the critical acclaim of ‘Mercury’, Josie has journeyed the stages of South Africa & Europe for more than two years – gigging her way into the hearts of thousands with her honest and engaging performance.
Most recently, Josie was invited by James Blunt, to be the opening act for his sell out 2008 James Blunt ‘All The Lost Souls’ tour. This proved an amazing, and hugely impactful event for the young star, and one which also helped prove her capabilities and professional attitude towards her craft amongst the industry and public who witnessed her near show-stealing performances. ‘Leyland’, released 1 September 2008, is a major leap forward, showing a more mature side to a young artist who has come into her own over the past 2 years.
All the songs on Leyland were composed by Josie, with the exception of ‘Don’t Want The World To Know’ – which was written by producer Kevin Leicher. It’s an eerie, provocative song about the secrets we all hide. It’s a song about “hiding yourself, when you really don’t have to”. Also on ‘Leyland’ is the Johnny Cash inspired country song ‘Freedom That I Deserve’, the piano-lead love song ‘Shape Of My Heart’, that starts out with only piano and Josie’s voice, before an exquisite glockenspiel is introduced into the mix. This is followed by the introduction of a simple programmed beat before the whole band joins in. The song slowly breaks down to the simple piano and vocal that it introduced itself as.
Leyland is an album that has clearly blossomed from experiences of a growing artist. It’s a bizarre, symbiotic mix of folk, country, rap and pop. Leyland looks set to be the album
that will elevate Josie to the next level.
ABOUT TAHNEE
Tahnee is originally from Perth, Western Australia, where she grew up next to the beach. She’s been surfing and swimming since she could walk. Her childhood nickname was Tadpole as she preferred the underwater world and she secretly wanted to be a fish! Not surprising really, as the Polynesian meaning of the name Tahnee is “beside the sea” or “wave” in Aboriginal!
Tahnee was born to entertain… to her life is a stage. She starred in TV commercials as a child and learned to play the piano at the age of 10 and the violin at 13. Her grandfather has been a piano teacher for over 60 years and was her musical educator.
At the age of 17 she finally picked her up her instrument of love- the guitar and also started stretching her amazing vocal chords helping her on the way to become the one woman surfer girl band she is today! Starting off round campfires has prepared her for the stages of today.
Tahnee’s vocal style could be compared to a female Jack Johnson, with echoes of Melissa Etheridge. Her song writing inspiration stem from her love of life, life’s loves, her eco- consciousness and her affinity with nature.
Currently based in Dubai, Tahnee is taking her musical career to greater heights with album recordings and high profile performances…this girl is definitely one to watch!
Tahnee has just finished recording her debut album in the studio in the UK and the album launch will be held in November this year. She has also just won a year long endorsement with Rip Curl which will seeing her performing in Rip Curl events across the Middle East.
